Video marketing is extremely powerful. A dozen years ago you simply couldn’t stream audio or video online.
Times have changed and video is becoming the best form of engagement with a potential audience.
YouTube has become a go-to search engine. Just a few years ago if you wanted to learn how to tie a necktie you would have “googled it”. Today, you go to YouTube to see how it’s done. It’s a much better delivery mechanism for certain types of instruction and sharing of information.
Marketers have seen the power of video and jumped on board. Viral videos and helpful videos can be the number one inbound marketing strategy for many companies.
Not every video will go viral.
Just like not every blog post will be shared. Most people don’t make a video production plan, or marketing plan.
We constantly see examples of the “Field Of Dreams” thinking when it comes to video. “If I build it, they will come”
Posting a video on YouTube doesn’t guarantee anyone will watch it (besides the people in your business and your mom!) Building a website doesn’t guarantee anyone will visit it, that’s why search engine optimization exists.
The first step is to optimize the video channel and the title, description etc., of the video. Most people never consider this.
Once that’s done you need to get eyeballs on your video. There are dangerous shortcuts for this. For example, you can find an offshore provider that will deliver you 1 Million views to your video for a few hundred dollars. But Google bought YouTube and they have GREAT analytics. If they see that 1 Million hits came to a video, and they all stayed .01 second, and they all came from the same small geographic location, what do you think they’d do.
Yep, they’ll take you video out of their index.
The smart thing to do is promote your video in a way that doesn’t get you banned, and will stick to the top of the rankings. To start moving up the YouTube search algorithm you need real people searching for, and watching your video. This is not an easy thing to do. (but we do have our ways;-)
That will move you up the rankings on YouTube, but that’s only half the battle.
Just because you have top rankings on YouTube doesn’t guarantee you’ll even show up on Google, Bing and Yahoo.
Once you’ve confirmed that your video ranks well on YouTube (Daily Motion, Vimeo, Veoh, etc.,) we can start our other system to slowly move you up the organic search engine results.
In today’s internet environment searchers are much more likely to click on a search results that is a video over a text based article. On Google search a small thumbnail of the video shows up in the search results. This leads to a much higher click through ratio.
Promoting a video to rank better on YouTube and then having it rank in Google is not a short term process.
We should know.
We’ve done this over and over again.
It works! Period
